How to Connect Smartwatch to a New Phone or Unbind It (Applicable Models: GTR5, GTR6)

If you have a new phone and wish to transfer your smartwatch for use with it, please follow the steps below according to your specific situation.

Important Note: Your Runmefit device is bound to your Runmefit account. All your data is stored in the cloud and synchronized with this account.

Scenario 1: Transferring Your Watch to a New Phone

Option A: Keep All Data by Using Your Original Account

This is the recommended method to ensure all your historical data (such as steps, heart rate, etc.) is seamlessly migrated.

  1. Prepare Your Old Phone: On your old phone, go to the system's Bluetooth settings, find your watch, and select "Forget This Device" or "Unpair".
  2. Log In on Your New Phone: Install the Runmefit app on your new phone and log in using the same account and password that you previously used to bind the device.
  3. Connect Your Device: After logging in, the app may automatically prompt you to connect to a nearby device. If not, please follow the steps in "How do I connect my device to the Runmefit App?" to re-add your watch within the app.

Result: Because the account matches, the watch will connect to your new phone successfully. All your historical data will be automatically restored from the cloud. Your watch will not be formatted, and all data will be preserved.

Option B: Start Fresh with a New Account

Warning: This action will cause your watch to be formatted, and all unsynchronized historical data on the watch will be permanently erased.

  1. Log In on Your New Phone: Install the Runmefit app on your new phone and register or log in with a brand new account.
  2. Attempt to Connect: Go to the "Add Device" page in the app, then search for and attempt to connect to your watch.
  3. Confirm Formatting:
    • The app will display a prompt informing you that "The device is bound to another account" and ask if you wish to force the pairing.
    • After you confirm, a prompt will also appear on your watch screen stating: "Unpairing will format your watch."
  4. Complete Pairing: After you confirm the unpairing, the watch will reset to factory settings and restart. You can then proceed with the normal process to bind the watch to your new account.

Result: All local data on the watch will be erased, and it will be successfully bound to your new account. The watch will begin recording data from scratch.

 

Scenario 2: How to Actively Unbind Your Device from the App

If you simply want to unbind the watch from your current account, please follow these steps from within the currently logged-in app.

  1. Open the Runmefit app and ensure your watch is connected.
  2. Go to the "Device" page and select your watch.
  3. On the device settings page, find and tap "Unbind Device".
  4. Confirm the action as prompted by the app.

Result: The watch will be formatted and reset to factory settings, and the binding with your Runmefit account will be removed. Afterward, the watch can be paired with any new account.
